I posted a little meme, six questions about five things such as '5 things on my to-do list:' one of which was 'Do speed drawing (this is sketching for 30 mins...' an exercise which, obviously I hope, the drawings below aren't a part of.

techgirl_on_ij and lisa_thecat were both sweet enough to ask me to post some of my drawings and I have decided to do so since I never really have.

If you click on a drawing, which I would suggest especially with the horse and the tree, Livejournal will, kindly, make the image larger as three of these are about 20 by 30 inches with the other two, a bit smaller.

They are: An ice flow; An abstract; A tree; A horse; and A grove of trees done on gray paper. You can hardly tell the difference since my lighting was off, but the rest are done a white paper so the drawings are, in fact, are more warm than cool.

Wow, I am very impressed! My favorite is the skeletal tree - I love the graphic choices. It's like a drawing inside a drawing. I love the curvy connectivity outside the stricter central frame. The ice flower is surprising because you go against the norm that demands cutesy symmetry. It's more like a frost mark still growing it veins and spreading on the page. Very imaginative!!!
The trees in the grove somehow look spiky. It's very atmospheric.
I am not sure about the horse. It's very well done graphically, but maybe not so edgy like the other sketches. The essential veins are drawn prominently. Is the horse tired? Is its liferoad blocked by impenetrable mountains? I am not sure. You look at this and want to know what's the story.
I hope I don't sound like a complete fool. I am no expert, evidently. These are just my thoughts at the first sight of your work.

I like the branching tree as well if for no other reason than it was so much fun to draw. The horse is alone in a very inhospitable environment, cold and bitter, and he is tired and not well-fed. I revised a found photograph. He's probably my favorite :)

Glad you think so :)

Wow!
I think that 1 and 2 I love the most! 😍 But all of them are... wow!

Thank you!! I really appreciate your 'wowness' :)

Oh, wow! You're incredible talented.

The abstract one would look great on my bedroom wall and the horse is amazing! It looks a bit sad. I'm thinking maybe it's lost its owner and are trying to find a new home. However, the last one is my favorite. It reminds me of walking in the forest on a cold winter day.

Thanks for sharing these with us.

You're incredible sweet for thinking so. I appreciate it :)

The horse comes from a photograph I modified of a barren, cold, and desolate landscape. He seemed to me old, alone, and weary but was carrying on nonetheless. I was hoping that's how he came across as I drew him. I'm glad you liked the last one. I hadn't done anything like that before. Now, maybe I'll do another :)

I'm always happy to share. Thanks for asking :)

That is some hardcore talent. Your linework and that delicate shading is just phenomenal.

Oh man, thank you! I have piss-poor eyesight so, naturally, I have a love for 'the details'. I spend a lot of my time looking through a magnifying glass :) Glad you liked

Incredible art work. Thank you so much for sharing :)

Thank you so much for enjoying!

Fascinating drawings. I particularly enjoy the horse. I feel like that one is telling a story. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Grammy

First, so glad to see you back and, hopefully, all mended :) It's been too long.

Second, I think you're right, of them all, that's the drawing that does tell a little story, of perseverance under very difficult circumstances, I think.

Oh wow, you are really talented - I pull my hat! I can't even decide which one I like best, they're all beautiful. :)

Thank you, Alex! I very much appreciate your kind words. Personally, I think I kind of like the horse best. As one commenter said, that one tells a bit of a story and I like the idea of that :)

I love these, what an incredible talent you have. The final one with the trees and the abstract really stopped me in my tracks.

Thank you!! How good your words make me feel :) It's interesting because the abstract you like is the oldest shown, done probably 20 years ago while the trees was just done last month. Oldest and newest! very cool :)
