my first mission101 list is no more

About half-way through time-wise and I am closing this baby out as much of it no longer interests me or is relevant to my world or...whatever. This list was about projects and most of those I've completed. What remained were tasks out-of-my-control, either because they involved others or large sums of money, neither of which were necessarily or continually under my control.

My new list, which I will post tomorrow, is about lifestyle changes, but more about that later.

For now, I wanted to acknowledge what I did accomplish with the help of this really cool tool, the tasks I completed and the ones I didn't.
I have several sets at flickr that document all of this so, feel free to check-it-out. If interested...clickity click.

 1. Study Abstract Expressionism
Learned a lot, will continue only with a broader timeline
2. Study of Johns & Rauschenberg
Learned a LOT, will continue 'cause I love them so.
3. Complete three large collages/ drawings
Completed one large, and several smaller, drawings, enough to constitute three, at least in my mind.
4. Set-up flickr account
Done is done

1. Finish reedit of A Time From Now
My 100 chapter Queer As Folk post513 story, done is seriously done (thank you Jeannie)
2. Finish posting of A Time From Now to LJ
Done is blissfully done

2. Confine study reading to Ab/ Ex & Johns/ Rauschenberg
Done is done
6. Read poetry from around mid-20th century
Read Ashbery to Ginsberg, O’Hara to Auden and many many more until, frankly, I'm a little burned-out
 9. Read books about writing or poetry
Read several, some funny, some serious, each with something important to say
11. Find 100 poems for Lauren’s poetry book
Done is done (thank you to all the wonderful people who contributed)

1. Get carpets cleaned once a year
3. Paint hallway
Not only is it painted, but the pictures are rehung…sweet
6. Remove carpet from & refinish wood floors in Lauren’s bedroom
We three worked together and this took no time a all, nce ALLLLL of Lauren's stuff was out.
7. Repaint & redecorate Lauren’s bedroom
She now manages to keep it relatively clean…wheee!!!
8. Contact landscaper from 2008 if available for quote for front-yard
He was so, we went with him, but not sxure I will again. Nice guy, but flaky
9. Plus, contact 2 other landscapers for quotes for front-yard
Did, but neither spoke English well, not that the guy we chose did either, but he was able to show me previous work.
10. Landscape front yard
Done is done

 3. Start process of getting daughter braces
One year down, one to go
4. Do what I can to support daughter in her choice whether or not to go to West Valley
Did what I could, her choice not to go
1. Involve daughter in photography
Did, we took photos everywhere. This year, she’s taking a photo class at school so, more to come.
8. Boston & New York
Boston: One week last summer
New York: Two weeks last summer
9. Seattle blah blah
We had thought to go to Seattle this year as it is close, but instead, David and Lauren went back east to check some property in Florida, and visit Harry Potter World, and to check on some property in Ohio, and to visit David’s mom. I had a week to myself...so sweet.is sweet

1. Donate 100,000 grain to FreeRice per year
At the point that I’m stopping this list, about half-way time-wise, I’d donated a little over 150,000 so…done is done
2. Don’t buy anymore books until I’ve read what I have (except for research/ study)
I didn’t except one, just one so, done is done
 5. 09_Continue doing the monthly “one good thing” on LJ
Finished 12_09
6. Lose ten pounds
Which I did -- actually fifteen -- after realizing that I’d gained ten more lbs. over the winter so…blah
10. Get laptop’s screen fixed BEFORE it completely fails
I did and a week later the whole entire compute went belly-up. So ironically messed-up
11. Maintain MyYahoo daily list
Done is done
12. Go through & organize/ get rid of boxes in house
Done is done and managed to create enough shelf space for a ton of books
13. Go through & organize/ get rid of boxes in garage
Done is done
14. Go through & organize/ get rid of boxes in garage loft
Done is done for a total of like 25 boxes
15. Organize photos into photo boxes
Done is done, BUT in going through the boxes in the garage, I found two full of the photographs my parents had collected throughout their many years and various travellings so…quite possibly one day.
16. Reorganize recipes, input into computer
Done is done, now to actually use them
19. Create flickr set to include pics & artwork from each artist I’ve studied
Done is done
20. Take a photo of every completed task and post to flickr & LJ
Done is done, a task that forced me to be creative, from time to time, because it’s not always immediately obvious how to photograph certain kinds of completed tasks, but…I managed.

9. Year 1_Do qaf_challenges
I put too much many writing tasks on my list and this was the first to go. I completed one, but no more

7. Year 2_read poets_Pre WWII
I’m putting all poetry on-hold for the time-being
15. Read the one poetry magazine I subscribe to
I unscribed as this magazine is more like a little book and I could not keep up

2. Get windows cleaned once a year

5. Make sure daughter does her volunteer hours monthly
Didn’t, her task not mine. She cooked for a battered women’s shelter once per month, but this didn’t involve my participation, other than paying for the groceries, so…not mine.
21. Update this list to my journal and link to mission101 once per month
I did goodly for awhile, but after computer died, then summer came, I lost interest hence the closing out of this list and the starting of a new one, one that should keep me entertained for a little while anyway.

7. Shop twice a month at Farmer’s Market
Shopped sporadically at Farmers Market but nothing like twice a week
8. Do a personal post on LJ once per week

I do realize those two number do NOT add up to 101, rest have been brought over to new list or *cough cough* ...whatever.

Stealing from your book lists to add to mine. Thank you in advance. Good luck with your new list!

Glad you've found books to 'steal' so, no problem and thanks for the good luck, I'm looking forward to the change.

Good luck on your new list. It's a wise woman who knows when its time to stop spinning wheels on one thing and move on to something more productive.

my thoughts exactly. I haven't done anything on the old one in maybe four months, other than read books so, obviously, time for the new. thanks for the encouragement.

Wow. I've been inspired by some of your posts along the way but it really is impressive when listed like this. Makes me think of all I don't get done.
Time to get organized.
Congrats on all you've seen and done and learned...I've especially loved sharing the photography with you.

it's just seeing everything written down, bit by bit, not such a big deal, but gathered-uo, a year's worth of stuff-done looks kind of impressive. Thanks for the very nice words and more photos to come, I hope.

thank you, your words mean so much. Writing it all out does make me feel pretty good, so, hopefully, will the next one.

You so succeeded. I just read through everything you accomplished and I am impressed and jealous. I cannot organize worth shit and if I manage to do 2 things a week (and I mean like pay that about to become overdue speeding ticket or order something that will become unavailable in 2 days), I'm doing great. You had a plan, stuck to it and did a whole lot. I like how you broke it out in categories - books, home, daughter. Also, you touched others - I learned a whole about Johns and Rauschenberg from you.

Thank you, I feel like I did pretty good, tasks got done, but no habits were established. Now on to that. I do this because I'm not organized per se, I can organize the hell out of things, but I let my own life slide, if I don't have a plan and know exactly what I should do THE NEXT DAY, I do nothing. If it's written on a list, I WANT to mark it off, which is why this works so well for me. I think the paper journal is really going to help

It's especially cool that you learned about Rauschenberg and Johns, they've come with me to my new list.

And I like your new icon a whole lot.
