Sunday January 15, 2011_David has not been happy for awhile with the fact that we both have been driving Mazda sports cars, and that, since mine is a 2-seater Miata, it's fairly useless for hauling anything except groceries. Everything else has been hauled in his very special baby :( So, we bought a 2005 PT Cruiser and I'm selling my car. I feel ok with this only because I know that, before he died, my dad, who I inherited the car from, was seriously considering trading in the Miata for a...you guessed it...for a PT Cruiser, probably a 2005 now that I think on it, so, is okay.

Thursday January 19, 2012_The newest of my Teaching Company Great Courses course -- Philosophy: A Guide ti Living -- which I enjoyed immensely. This was my last day, I had reached the 24th episode when I noticed the reflection the TV made on the cocktail table, so I took a photo of both. Symbolic, perhaps.

Saturday January 21, 2012_Third bedroom redo_ I'll post more about this later. Suffice it for now to say that yesterday, David and I pulled up old carpet and padding to reveal a shiny like-brand-new, 50 year old floor and we removed yucky paneling from the walls that I've wanted removed since we first moved in here!!!

Say bye bye, my baby was sold yesterday, to a friend who will, I am sure, love it and take care of it.

Gosh, that's a cute car you're losing -- at least it's going to a good home!

I know, right? but the friend who bought it works where David does and so at least he'll be able to see it in the IBM parking lot every once in awhile...sigh. Plus Lauren was scared driving over the hill in it, not because of my driving per se, but because trucks just don't see that car, was scary sometimes. She'll be more at ease now. So, yeah, best all around, I guess.

It's always sad to say goodbye to a car, especially one with so many memories...

But the PT Cruiser is really a good choice =)

I love the icon, Pam.

it is a good choice and safer and one my dad would have made had he had the chance. The Miata is so small, and so many cars are sooooo big and so many trucks are sooooooo big especially driving the hill. We'll be safer now and the PT Cruiser has a leather interior, so...yeah, very cool.

my husband of 25 years.

I don't recall your mentioning him so wasn't sure whether you were married or not.

We met when we were 18, but didn't marry until we were older, 35. Lauren was born about 8 years later and when she's around, David kind of goes his own way, which works well for all of us, but now that she's at university, when we have a project, especially something regarding the house, he's there, taking care of business.

Bye bye to your baby. I hope you enjoy your new car.

I loved that car, I really did, I really do, but driving over the hill was nerve-wracking, big ole trucks don't see little tiny cars, Lauren couldn't relax until we got off the freeway. This car will be better.

What a great surprise to find that floor.

Enjoy your new car. :)

most houses here built when this one was, 1961, have wooden floors and most, thankfully, have been covered by carpeting for many years. The surprise with this room was the condition of the floor, perfect, unlike the other 2 rooms we had already done, both of which needed a little work.

I think I'll grown to like it, I'm already calling it mine. I've named it Shadowfax after Gandolph's mighty white steed.

I think your dad is saying, "what too you so long!? Happy new car!

That floor is gorgeous. What a lucky find.

'I think your dad is saying, "what took you so long!?
That's my interpretation, exactly, the only way really I can deal with it.

I know, the floor is very nearly perfect, having been protected all these years. That won't last, we are particularly hard on our wooden floors :DD
