365 Photography Project_Fifteenth Post

A while back, I'd mentioned to a friend how I'd sat in my parent's home, after my father had died, with a limited amount of time, trying to understand what was what, what had mattered to either or both of my parents, what I should take with me, from one end of California to the other, and what was okay to let go of. I realized I had no way of knowing, I could only go by my own sense of aesthetics, what would fit into our life, what they still had from when I was a kid, and what they'd kept from my grandparents, since, with most of their things, I had no other criteria except my personal point-of-view for judging.

My friend suggested that I should think about documenting our things -- photo and description -- so one day Lauren would have a way of knowing what meant what to us. And especially since I'm the kind who mixes trash with treasure, it can be hard to discern. Everything has a story, simple or complicated, significant or not, and with this post, I'm going to start passing those on to Lauren, in this case with photo and story about the Franz Marc prints at the end.

Out of Order
Monday January 17, 2011 Our street @ 6:30am, my usual time for retrieving the newspaper and, yes, I did have to run back in to get the camera which wasn't quite up to this kind of darkness, but I think the photo is all that much prettier because of that.
