but first, a quick quote
I shall live badly if I do not write, and I shall write badly if I do not live -Francoise Sagan, playwright and novelist (1935-2004)
Ever onward to December wherein I completed 9 tasks for a Grand Total of 33/ 101
I changed #4 from The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner to The Serpent and the Grail by A.A. Attanasio because after 60 pages of The S and the F, I had only the vaguest idea what the man was writing about. Modernist literature can be...weird, really. Some I like and, apparently, some I don't
I found The S and the G on my drawer of the 'unreads' and now it is. It is a retelling of the Arthur Legend but set in a modern inflationary, multi-universe of living gods. Because of the rising belief in what is called 'the nameless god', the ancient gods, including the magical fairy people, are fighting for their continued existence. Arthur, along with his mother, is annoyingly Christian, while Merlin is awesomely magical as is Thor and Odin, the fairy folk and the dragon and it's not hard to guess whose side I was on.
MOVIES!!! I found me one of those 100 BEST EVER Movies, divided it into fourths and with this list, started watching the first fourth with four movies = one task because, seriously, how hard is it to watch a movie?? and so:
20_The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), dir. John Ford_Completed November_2012

Sunset Boulevard (1950), dir. Billy Wilder_Completed October_2012

21_2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), dir. Stanley Kubrick_Compledet November_2012

The Philadelphia Story (1940), dir. George Cukor_Completed November_2012
To Have and Have Not (1944), dir. Howard Hawks Completed November_2012
I'd seen all of these before but not many of them in years so...way fun!!!
28_Game of Thrones_through Season 2 which I watched with David and Lauren, a little weird given the overt sexual content but not overly so) and now, we eagerly await S3 which premiers at the bitter end of March and even if I did very nearly walk away at the end of S1. My heart still cries NO!!! NO!!! Meanies.
These are both file drawers, that had been full to overflowing with memorabilia from concerts and plays, circuses and trips, just all manner of events over the past many years, but which are now much less full and much more useful, the memorabilia having been weeded through with some discarded but with most filed elsewhere and in a more organized way.
88_Reorganize hamper of mom & dad’s personal things
I kept, first when my mom died and then when my dad did, a lot of their little stuff, glasses, wallets, keys, all the sort of minutiae of their daily lives, which I threw into a big picnic basket and which I have now gone through, keeping what really matters and discarding the rest. Time helps putting things in perspective, I find.
91_Reorganize LJ scrapbook. I had such fun doing this and I didn't think I would.
I started out with this, which had 90% of my graphics in UNSORTED: (I had gone through once long ago and made files but had never bothered filing the graphics & photographs into them)
and now I have this with no unsorted since now you can so easily sort them right when you upload!!!
Much prettier!!! And much more useful, which is just what organization should be all about, right?
