Back in spring, Lauren called me from Santa Cruz exclaiming that we had to go to New York this fall because Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart would be on Broadway starring in Waiting for Godot then. After a moment's hesitation (thinking about it...thinking about it...working the angels) I had to disappoint her (and really, me too) by reminding her that we couldn't possibly fly 3,000 miles across the country, for a weekend, in order to see a play, no matter WHO was starring in it, thereby, sadly, bringing her back to reality and, in the process, breaking her heart. It's tough being a mom. let me tell you.
Then, a month or so later, she called again from Santa Cruz exclaiming that we had to go to Berkeley this summer because Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart would be at The Berkeley Rep starring in No Man's Land then. Berkeley's closer than New York, very much closer so. I got online with her trying to make this work. Briefly, we thought it might not because the only way tickets could be purchased for No Man's Land was if The Purchaser was A Subscriber to the Rep, which, it being a 90 minutes drive away, we weren't.
Lauren: We could subscribe!!!!!
Me: Well, yes, but it costs 500 buck-a-rooskies to subscribe, add that to the cost of the tickets and we're talking some serious money here.
Lauren: (panic panic panic...searching the Rep's site for a solution) Yes but...if I subscribe, as a student, it's only 50 bucks.
Me: Oooo!!! Cool!!! Please do that so, she does and we order up 2 tickets for No Man's Land and, I assure you, we both slept happy that night. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of driving to Berkeley but since we were ticketed for a 2pm matinee, it was all good.
A couple of days later, I mentioned to Cindy about the play and it was decided that she and Jimmy would join us. Lauren and I purchased 2 more tickets, unfortunately not in the same section, which was Sold Out, but near enough and last Thursday, our best laid plans came to fruition beyond our happiest imaging so....

Stay tuned for Part Two! which can now be found HERE
Briefly about the play and what happened afterward!

Now, off to paint Lauren's bedroom...oh JOY!!!

You were very smart, using Lauren's student status never occurred to us.

Part Two is finally up if you're still interested :)

Ooohhh I'm both super jealous and super excited for you.

Be sure to take pictures and post because OMFG I have to live this one vicariously!

I appreciate both your supers.
I could only take photos of the venue, none were allowed once the lights went down and the curtain went up. Those I'll be posting as part of my 365 photo project at the end of the month.

Also, Part Two is up also, if you're interested :)

God, how I love the two of them! Thanks for the post, hon!

You are apparently not alone and to me it's so cool to realize that love for them is something Lauren and I have in very much in common. I've put up the second part, if you're interested :)
