Day Four_If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking_Haruki Murakami

Though I am a fan of Haruki Murakami, I disagree. Even when you read the same book, you make your own interpretation. Of course, if you're determined to only read best sellers, for example, you will ultimately severely limit your culture.

I interrupted him as meaning that if you only read within your own subset, mathematicians reading about math, physicists reading about physics, theologians reading about religion, you limit your perspective. I spent a great deal of time reading only nonfiction thinking fiction had nothing to offer me but, after joining a bookclub where a lot of fiction was offered, I realized I was wrong, fiction does have a great deal to offer.

Loving all your comments! Thanks so much :)
