Sunday February 1, 2015_January media_I've decided to rewatch QAF straight through from the beginning, something I've never done. An escapist move? Perhaps, but still, a lot of fun.
I've also decided to reread the whole Ender's Game-verse, both the Ender quintet and the Shadow however many. It's a case of love the art if not the artist. I started, at Lauren's reccomendation with First Meetings, four short stories that are like longish gap-fillers.

Monday February 23, 2015_Our garage door went bad so, we called Arrow and the lovely owner came out and made everything alright. This circuit board turned out to be the culprit and was replaced.

Tuesday February 24, 2015_This mess, on the left, is but one small part of our parking strip and from which I was able to remove the pile of yard waste on the right. The city picks up such waste, mulching it, and using that for the parks and such around here. The pile in the background is mine as well :)

They are real books, several of them, written beginning in the 1970's with Ender's Game which has subsequently been made into a movie. Mr. Card then wrote three more books extending Ender's universe 3000 years into the future and taking place in space. In the 2000's he wrote a fourth making Ender's-verse a quintet.

Beginning in the late 1990's the author decided to extend the universe of a companion of Ender named Bean, starting with Ender's Shadow, which takes place on earth. There are seven or eight books in this verse.

The problem is Mr. Card is Morman, something which shouldn't matter except that he decided to use a large portion of his money to try, successfully, to get Prop 8, a ban on gay marriage, passed in California which prompted the No On Hate (NOH8) campaign here. The man seriously damaged his Ender franchise.

So while I refuse to purchase any of his books, we didn't go see the movie, new, I'm reading what I have plus have purchased a couple used because, despite his hateful behavior, the books are freakin' good.

If your into science fiction and global politics.
