Pat Benatar for Girl Power Month

An original,

I've included vids of 'Heartbreaker Live' and an interview where she talks about herself and what it was like to be a woman rock&roller back in the day. The quality isn't the best especially for the interview...

Oh! You posted! *overjoyed*

Pat Benatar sort of passed me by a bit. I grew up listening to Frank Zappa and then got into the whole punk scene when I was a bit older. But one of my fiance's first album's he ever bought with money he had earned himself was actually a Pat Benatar.

It's sort of obvious when you look at the interview - and with the strength of hind sight - that the men that was set to promote her back then must have been very confused as how to do that. She had a voice and songs - at least in the beginning, she sort of "softened" with the times - that kicked ass by that times standards, and still she got photographed in a most typical sex-kitten way. Makes one wonder though - how far have we come? Hopefully a bit.

If she had breaked today I do believe she would have been promoted with a lot stronger profile. She would have deserved that.

Thank you so much for joining in on the fun!

I think you're totally right. I never paid much attention to how they 'marketed' her because I knew that was all it was, I just listened to her voice and was in awe.

It's funny...the first album I bought, with my own money, was Frank Zappa...Brown Shoes Don't Make It, a double album OMG.

I have a couple more I want to do, I'm having so much fun with this, thanks for coming up with the idea.

You're welcome!

Have you noticed that it's spreading a bit? I'm so proud!

When I was in college I saw Pat Benatar in concert. She had so much energy, it was incredible!

Pat Benatar reminds me of the golden age of MTV. I remember her videos as part of that magical time.

Oddly, I never got into MTV so she was never really an image for me, just a voice, most rock&rollers just didn't have that quality of voice. I also loved this guy named Tim Buckley, 4 octave range, who died very young.
