AUTHOR‘S NOTES: This story projects 59 years into the future and reflects all that that entails, many of the loose ends are tied-up. I dance with POV, I dance with time, in essence, I just dance to the song Brian & Justin sang to me.
Contains: Brian_others, Justin_others. They grow old, they are always together for just as long as time allows, but, ultimately, they will die.
As someone wise once said, ‘In the end, it’s all about Brian and Justin’ and I can only agree

A Time From Now

Kenneth R. Colfer
One Week Later - Seven Months - Pittsburgh

“Listen, we need to talk,” Brian said, shifting a little away from him on the couch, the loft suddenly gloomy instead of romantic in the semidarkness. Brian’s eyes scanned his, watching him as realization came to him, as ’no’ begged through his eyes. His breath suddenly coming in soft gasps. He moved closer into Brian, trembling…no no no. But Brian continued, “I’ve explained, right? I explained how this had to be and you agreed. You agreed to the rules Kenny but you haven’t been playing by those rules, have you? You knew this would come.”

And if possible, he moved even more into him, “Brian,” Kenny pleaded, frightened, “please--”

“We’ve gone over this before.” But Brian held him close.

“Brian don’t…alright? Just don’t. Fuck Brian please.” He brought his mouth up under Brian’s jaw and tenderly kissing him, he hummed in his skin, “Please don’t please don’t please.”

Cupping his face, Brian made him stop. He whispered, “I told you if you didn’t ease up, this would be over. Don’t make this any more difficult than necessary.”

“I’ll do what you want, please don’t tell me no.” Straddling Brian’s lap, his knees gripping his hips, his fingers clutching in his hair, and his eyes pleading into his eyes, he sensed hesitation, especially in Brian’s hands as they stroked upward along his thighs. He tried again, “I’ll do what you want, just don’t send me away. Not yet.”

“The problem, Kenneth, is that you aren’t playing by the rules, the main one being…?”

“I’m to understand that you’ll never want me over Justin. I know, I know--”

“Do you?” Brian cupped his face again, held him strong, asking, “Kenny, do you really?”

“Yeah yeah really, I do. I’ll do what you just said, I’ll uhmm…I’ll ease up, right? Ahhh, Brian c‘mon,” he soothed, “you know you don’t really wanna send me away, you know you don‘t and, I swear, next time you think I’m messing up, I’ll just go, no arguments or--”

“Kenny, stop, just stop.” Brian asked and he nodded. “For now, alright? You can stay for now, but you need to stop calling constantly and showing up on my doorstep every single night and you need to understand, really understand about Justin, alright? I’ve asked this before so…are we clear?”

And as he crawled down Brian’s body, kneeling on the floor in front of him, when he took Brian’s cock all warm and sweet into his mouth, he was telling Brian in his own way that it really was just fine. And when Brian let him, he knew he could stay, at least for a little while longer.

The Brian Kinney Operating Manual - A Life Examined
the chapter titled - ‘Brian Plus Others - As to Their Outcome’

So why does Brian let Kenny stay? We can only surmise and in our very humble opinion the main problem is Brian actually kind of likes this guy. It may have something to do with the adoration Kenny shows him. Even if Brian is fairly used to being adored, he‘s sensibly affected by Kenny’s variations. And then there’s Kenny’s beauty, all shaggy sun-blondness with the most expressive soft pale-gray eyes Brian’s ever seen plus  with a body beautifully toned and tanned and so very smooth that he uses well, very well. But mostly, Brian just likes him. He’s funny and warm and sexy except when he’s in stalker-mode. If he only could’ve relaxed, and we have this on good authority, he could’ve ended up being around for a while. But the real problem is Kenneth R. Colfer has fallen in love, and this relationship really couldn’t last much longer.

So it didn‘t.

Two months more is as long as he makes it, should have been longer but there’s nothing that could be done. Nothing at all. Strangely, once the break is made, Brian never sees Kenny around Liberty Avenue, not at Babylon or at the diner or even at the gym where he’d found him in the first place. Initially, he’s a little surprised by this but eventually this detail, along with the very idea of Kenny at all, begins to fades. But only for awhile.

Four years later, in the fall of 2010, while he’s in his New York loft’s office, bored and playing with his computer, just keying-in random names from his past, he discovers, on the obituary page in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette dated May 2006, that Kenneth R. Colfur had died of a heroin overdose only a month and a half after Brian had made him go. Coincidence? We assume not.

Brian clicks off the paper’s website, stands and calmly walks down his hallway and into his Phillipe Stark designed bathroom -- no need to concern Justin who’s upstairs reading -- where he leans over his Neo-Metro Euro-Urban toilet and throws up. Jesus…Jesus fucking Christ…no…please no. Because, problem is Brian understands, Kenneth R. Colfer loved him…had really loved him and he’d had no choice but to make him go.
