AUTHOR‘S NOTES: This story projects 59 years into the future and reflects all that that entails, many of the loose ends are tied-up. I dance with POV, I dance with time, in essence, I just dance to the song Brian & Justin sang to me.
Contains: Brian_others, Justin_others. They grow old, they are always together for just as long as time allows, but, ultimately, they will die.
As someone wise once said, ‘In the end, it’s all about Brian and Justin’ and I can only agree
A Time From Now
Two, Maybe Three Minutes Later - Still New York
I felt him. I didn’t need to look up from my laptop, I felt him watching from the doorway. I imagined his expression, almost reserved yet with a glint in his eyes, but he’d hold back. He wouldn’t want to seem overly excited knowing that I’m not much into public displays of affection, but none of that mattered because I made the first move, caused the public display of affection. I went to him. Taking him in my arms, not even caring if we blocked the doorway, if we were becoming a spectacle. If…anything. I held him and he felt good, familiar, right. Bringing our foreheads together, I whispered, “Surprise.”
“You’re surprise visiting me?” Justin whispered back. “Brian, how long, how long are you here? How long can you stay?”
“I’ve arranged for a week,” directing him toward my table.
Pausing, he stated the obvious, “You’re not here just for me, are you?”
“Justin, you wound me.” I sat and finishing my coffee, I waited.
“Uh…huh,” he sighed, while bussing my mug from the table to the counter where he’d decided it belonged.
“Justin, stop clearing the table. And anyway, I don’t believe I said I was here just for you. Standing, I pulled him back to the table, made him sit. “That’s the conclusion you jumped to.”
Sitting across from me frowning, his chin propped in his hands, his elbows propped on the table, he said, “Yeah…well…”
“Yeah well what? I’m here, we have a week and with only a minimum of interruptions. I assume. I don’t actually know your very busy schedule,” I smiled vaguely so he smirked, doing that eye-rolling thing. “So…where’s the problem?”
He pushed his hands flat against the tabletop, next to each other, toward me, straightening his arms. “You’re here to see a client,” he said, deciding just then to push himself back, away from me.
“Yeah, I am but I think you’re missing the big picture, which is I’m here and I want to see you. I don’t have to stay a week, Justin, I only need to be here a couple of days,” I sounded threatening, intentionally. I got ready to go, putting away the laptop, etc. etc “If you’re not good with this, I can always make other arrangements--”
“Asshole,” he said, calming down, he leaned forward again.
“It’s late. I do have a meeting early tomorrow. Let’s go back to your place, get your stuff and continue this at my hotel. I have plans--?”
“Oh, you do--”
“Yeah, I do. C’mon, let’s go.”
And once finally at Justin’s apartment they discovered that Alex had considerately and conveniently relocated himself to his girlfriend, Ellen’s place. Brian declared Alex to be a very good roommate and they decided to just stay put. Brian would simply stop by the Hilton before his meeting. Not a problem, he declared, as they crawled into bed, but when morning actually came, he was a grumpy bitch. Justin gave him a magnificent blow-job and sent him contentedly on his way, having made arrangements to meet with him after his meeting.
He gave Justin his second surprise that afternoon, the very welcome news that they’d be flying together to Toronto that weekend for Lindsay and Melanie’s wedding. So, not only would they both be in the wedding party together on Monday, not only would they fly in together on Saturday, but they had an entire week until then to play. And during their ten days together, Justin’s presence next to him in bed at night was such that Brian never once woke up in darkness in nightmare terror.
