It's kind of ironic how...

...just last week, I was talking to arlad about what's been going on in Mexico -- for those who don't know, she lives in Mexico City -- with the flue and her saying how bad it's getting and me being worried for her and relieved we live here, when, this morning -- actually at midnight last night -- I receive a call from my daughter's highschool saying that they were shutting it down until NEXT Wednesday because a student tested positive last Thursday for Swine Flue. Apparently, there's a 10 day incubation period and, now I'm to watch her for symptoms.

It's a small freakin' world, isn't it? And we're all in this together.

And maybe ironic isn't the right word. Maybe it's more like epic scary.

the school system in your area is not fooling around! i see this as a cautious and smart move. it is getting a bit scary. years and years ago there were a couple of cases of whooping cough in my daughter's school system...all 400 kids had to go on antibiotics to help prevent further cases. it worked...there were no other outbreaks.

take care,

I agree completely but I also realize that most households around here have two working parents and we now have 1,400 kids who need to be dealt with for the next week. I'm lucky but most aren't so fortunate and I bet they're scrambling about now.

They were very smart in your daughter's school, and I know they're being the same in Lauren's. Daiv's in Ohio, he left yesterday for a week. Lauren and I have the house to ourselves. I don't want people sick but for us personally, it'll be kind of nice.
