ONE
: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ta_wanda. Hope you had a great day.

TWO
: This was snagged from qaffangyrl who snagged it from wherever it is she snags things. The song is 'Bring Him Home -- which I LOVE -- from Les Miserables, which I have actually seen and enjoyed very much. Only about half of the time is spent with him actually singing, maybe less. The rest of the time is, well...you'll see.

And THREE:

I decided to reread this what with the movie being released soonish and what with me only having ever read it the one time when it first came out. So, why is it even when I know, even when I've read the book and already know that he dies in chapter 27 and on page 595,  that I still have to stop a couple of pages before and ready myself. And the second time is even worse than the first because the first time I could fool myself into believing that his dying was just a scheme cooked up between him and Professor Snape and that, at the end during the great battle, Dumbledore, like Gandalf before him, would dramatically return just at the right moment to inspire everyone to save heart and seize the day. I really kind of hate it that that's not how it went down. I really do.

For Lauren it was Serius, hit her hard and Dobby. For me Dumbledore and Hedwig. We both think George was completely unnecessary. We spent over an hour discussing all this again yesterday. How amazing that the books still resonate so strongly. Lauren reads a lot of HP fanfic, I've read maybe two, the best being a story where Fred is reunited with George.

I disliked the George death, it was handled so meaninglessly, I thought. But in that book, Dobby's death was the only one to move me to tears. I was annoyed by that whole first chapter-- there must have been a dozen better ways to get Harry out of that house--many of them appearing in fanfiction, lol! One of my favorites in the fandom is Aspeninthesunlight's A Family Like No Other, and the related stories. I believe the first one is A Year Like No Other. It is AU but marvelously written.

Meaningless is the right word, completely. And I know, leave up to fanfic writers to put the wrong things right. I'll pass the rec on to Lauren, thanks.

Aspen has several sites that she posts on, here is one:

Her stories have won multiple awards, especially this series. I hope Lauren enjoys. There are some chapters with some tough scenes, but if your daughter is in her teens, she should be fine with it. If she really likes it, Aspen also has a yahoo group.
